Is Daxxify® Better Than Botox®? See Why Everybody's Talking About It

Is Daxxify® Better Than Botox®? See Why Everybody's Talking About It

For years, Botox® had reigned supreme as the best way to reduce the appearance of dynamic wrinkles — even when competitors pushed out products like Dysport®, Botox injections remained the gold standard.

But all of that could be changing.

The FDA recently gave a new brand its stamp of approval, and it’s sure to shake things up. Daxxify® is the first and only peptide-formulated neuromodulator with long-lasting results. Everyone’s buzzing about this new approach to the most frustrating signs of aging.

Dr. Chinyere Orafu and our team at Ohio Laser & Wellness Centers present a sneak peek into Daxxify and answer your most pressing questions.

What exactly is Daxxify?

Daxxify (daxibotulinumtoxinA-lanm), or Daxi, is in the family of neuromodulators, which includes Botox, Xeomin, Jeuveau, and Dysport. It reduces the appearance of wrinkles by temporarily “freezing” your facial muscles with the help of botulinum toxin.

We inject the toxin into the underlying muscle, causing them to relax and create a smoother, younger-looking appearance in your skin. Daxxify works best on moderate to severe glabellar lines (frown lines).

Why is Daxxify different?

What sets Daxxify apart is its duration of effectiveness. Other products last 3-4 months, but Daxxify can deliver results lasting upward of six months.

Beyond that, Daxxify is free of any human or animal additives. Botox and other neuromodulators come from human serum albumin (HSA), a protein created in the liver. There’s nothing dangerous about HSA, but because it comes from peptides instead of HSA, Daxxify results last longer. The peptides stay more tightly bound longer than animal- or human-based ingredients.

Daxxify’s peptide-based formulation makes it the first genuine innovation in the neurotoxin game since Botox became popular.

What does the research say?

After a clinical trial proved its efficacy, the FDA gave Daxxify the green light. The clinical trial included more than 2,700 patients who received 4,200 treatments of Daxxify.

After one month, 98% of the patients had fewer or no wrinkles. Some patients had results that lasted nine months, and half were entirely or nearly wrinkle-free after six months.

What’s more, researchers didn’t observe any side effects. The risk of an adverse reaction is similar to Botox and other neuromodulators.

Am I a candidate?

If you’re a candidate for any of the injectables on the market right now, then you’re likely a candidate for Daxxify. It’s important to note that Daxxify lasts longer and fades more slowly than other injectables, so your treatments are less frequent and, in some ways, less customizable.
