Botox:

BOTOX® for Excessive Underarm Sweating

At Ohio Laser & Wellness Centers, you can now receive BOTOX for excessive sweating of the underarms. Some individuals are inconvenienced by sweating that is so severe that anti-perspirants are not effective. This leads to drenched clothing at mild temperatures, causing embarrassment at work and social situations. If you suffer from excessive sweating, otherwise known as hyperhidrosis, you may feel held back socially and in your career due to this problem. We now offer BOTOX to put this problem to rest. You can get months of normalized or absent underarm sweating through the injection of BOTOX directly into the skin in that area. BOTOX takes effect after approximately 3 days, and is usually maximal after two weeks. It is approximately 90% effective and generally lasts about 6 months, with a range of 3 to 12 months. In a study by Hornberger et al, mean sweat production at 24 weeks was still below 50% of the preinjection level. 92% of patients were satisfied with the treatment at 4 weeks after injection. 50 units per side is the recommended starting dose. Side effects are uncommon and this amount of BOTOX is considered safe.

Dermal Fillers:

These are dermal fillers that can be used to augment the lips or fill in deep lines around the nose and mouth. With Restylane injections, lips can be made to appear fuller and smoother and your lip line can be more defined. In addition, deep wrinkles such as the nasolabial folds (that separate the cheeks from the upper lip), the corners of the mouth, and other folds on the face can be filled in so that you appear younger and more relaxed. Restylane is composed of hyaluronic acid, a substance that is naturally present in your body. It is extremely safe and the risk of allergic reaction is very rare. Perlane is similar to Restylane but lasts 6-18 months and it is for deeper wrinkles. To minimize discomfort, anesthetic cream is used topically to numb the areas being treated. After treatment with these fillers, results can be seen immediately. Results last approximately 6 months with Restylane and Juvederm and 6-18 months with Perlane.
